Help with printer connection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there

I have installed a WHS.  Installed Server 2003 drivers for an HP LaserJet 1200 (pretty old std printer.

I can see the printer in my network views and everthing appears fine.

Then I click to connect to the printer and the waiting starts.  It can take many minutes for the connection to establish.  Once this is done, if I select "properties" I again can wait a long time for things to happen.

Usually, while all this waiting is going on I get an "Application has stopped responding message"

I strongly suspect I have a protocol / configuration issue but I am completely baffled on what it could be.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

  • You may also need drivers for your client operating system(s). The simplest way to deal with this is to install the drivers directly on your client PCs. Alternatively, you could install drivers on your server for automatic installation on client PCs, according to the instructions in the help topic titled "Add printer drivers for other versions of Windows" in the Add Printer Wizard on your server.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
