CRM 4.0 Outlook - Unable to display one or more entities RRS feed

  • Question

  • Some users using the CRM 4.0 outlook client are experiencing issues in that one or more of our custom and/or out of the box entities will not display the data for them.  The 4.0 outlook client is pointed to a crm 2011 instance

Example - one user could see the entities in Outlook and the default view showed. Then later no entities would render their default views and no changes had been made.

Another user could see all the default views for all entities except one.  All security roles were good , there was no cases of previously deleted attritubes causing a problem with the view(s) .

I was could not reproduce the issue on my own machine (sys admin role) at first . However after running the diagnostic tool I was able to reproduce the issue on one entity. Later it seemed to 'resolve' itself and I ran the tool again and at one point I too could not see any of the views. Ran the tool again and it was resolved.  Any ideas other than re-running the tool over and over ?

Tracing doesn't seem to provide much.  When the entity view will not render if we right click and go to properties that entity in Outlook and look at the homepage URL there is an &ID=entityname.  When we take that out of the url it works. however with it there it works too except in these weird cases.

  • You really do want to get the users moved on to the CRM 2011 client sometime soon - the only reason the 4.0 client is supported at all is so that when you upgrade your servers you can, for a short time, continue to use the 4.0 client to buy you enough time to get round and upgrade them.

It sounds like an issue over metadata caching. What rollup are your server and clients?

    Hope this helps.
