Spammer:Win32/clodpuntor.A Remove Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get this message every single day. Spammer:Win32/clodpuntor.A   Remove Failed. If I don't get an answer here I guess I will uninstall One Care and try another program. I started to try another virus program once but got a message I had to uninstall One Care first. This has been going on for over a month. One care says nothing about where the virus is or how to get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to start your pc in safe mode you do this by tapping F8 on start up and choose safe mode after you get in safe mode go to start type cmd and right click and choose run as admin and then do they following

Windows Live OneCare can be run at a command prompt in Safe Mode.

Restart into Safe Mode (or SM w/Command Prompt) and go to the OneCare folder:

    c:\program files\microsoft windows onecare live\

Then run the SafeModeAvScanner.EXE with /? and you will see the command line options that are available

Run in safe mode from a MVP from the following link http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1215336&SiteID=2

  • Thank you. That seemed to work. I still have to wait a day to see if the message comes back. I used the -s switch which scanned the entire computer. It took me a few minutes to figure out the instructions. Go to start/run/type "cmd" to open a dos window. I used the cd command to switch to the c:\program files\microsoft windows onecare live\ and typed "SafeModeAVscanner.Exe -s". I still am not sure what SM or MVP means. OneCare quarantined the file and I went to help in OneCare to find the quarantined file and deleted it.

  • Steve, I just got off the phone with tech support. Erwin said he removed the virus.
