Members with owner permission can only access files as read-only RRS feed

  • Question

  • I set up Live Mesh, created a folder, and uploaded an excel document.  I invited two other members, they joined, however they can only open the file.  It is labeled read-only.  I have set their permissions to owner (they were originally set as contributors, but I changed them to owners to see if that changed anything).  The file on live mesh as well as the original file are not hidden or read only.  When I access the file on my desktop, I have no problems.  However, even when I (the creator) go to my Live Mesh online desktop, I cannot save the file.  I get a message saying it cannot be saved due to a sharing violation and I need to rename the file.  I am using Windows Vista.  Any help in getting this solved would be helpful, or else this program doesn't help us at all!

  • You cannot edit the file directly from the Live Desktop version in your web browser. You can edit the file on your local PC and anyone sharing that folder, synchronized to their PC, can open the file on their PC. The Live Desktop copy of the file can be downloaded or viewed. When you view it, the file is downloaded to a temporary location on your PC in read-only mode. To edit the file from the web, you need to use Save As and upload it back to the Live Desktop folder to overwrite the existing file.
