Unable to create live account to register LiveOne Care for a customer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

A customer comes near me to reinstall his computer. When I try to active Windows LiveOne Care, it ask for to register a new Live.com account, but I'm getting since few days an error that Microsoft endure some issue to get the availability of the username. How create an account to have LiveOne care working with the serial number? Or may be it's possible to activate LiveOne care without register a Live account?

    Thanks for your help.

  • You must create a LiveID and use that LiveID to create a subscription. And, note also that you can only Activate OneCare (subscribe) if you are located in a country where it is available for sale -

In which countries and languages is Windows Live OneCare available?

The Windows Live OneCare subscription service is available in the following countries and languages: Australia (English), Austria (German), Belgium (Dutch, French), Canada (English, French), France (French), Germany (German), Ireland (English), Italy (Italian), Japan (Japanese), Mexico (Spanish), Netherlands (Dutch), New Zealand (English), Singapore (English), Spain (Spanish), Switzerland (French, German), United Kingdom (English), United States (English, Spanish).

To create a LiveID, simply go to http://account.live.com in your web browser. If it reports that the user name is unavailable, that will never change. It is unavailable, a new one must be selected. You can also create a LiveID that is your email address from your Internet provider.

If your customer is in a country where OneCare is sold, what is the specific error being encountered when creating the liveID?
