  • Windows is saying an unauthorized change was made to windows.  I follow the intructions tried to fixed, but failed. Appreciate your help. Thanks

  • Thanks for all the help. Problem solved. Actually looks like it is the itune caused the problem. I restored windowe before itune was installed, and it works.

    Your system has two problems -
    1) You have a non-genuine copy of MS Office Pro Plus installed - this product is only sold in bulk to organisations for use on their own machines. If you bought it for yourself, you were sold a counterfeit.
     
    2) the file mismatch highlighted above is probably the reason for your non-genuine message.
    Your problem is caused by the File MisMatch above - which means that the version of the file that Windows has found is in some way different to that it expected to find. Windows interprets this as an attack on the validation system, resulting in the non-genuine notice.
    You can try using System Restore to get back to a date when the system worked properly (it appears to have shown as a fault only yesterday - but the error may predate that by up to 3 days), or use the System File Checker to try and replace the correct version of the file
     
    To use the System File Checker
    Click on Start
    in the Search box, type
    CMD.EXE
    wait for the system to find what should be the only file related, and right-click on it - select Run As Administrator.
    Accept the UAC prompt if you get one, and then in the window that comes up, type
     
    SFC   /SCANNOW
     
    and hit the Enter key
    wait for the scan to finish - it'll take a while - and then reboot, twice!
     
    run the MGADiag report again, and post back with the new report.

    when I run SFC   /SCANNOW, it says

    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
    Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

    Also SoftwareLicensing stop working. I use net start slsvc, it gives

    The Software Licensing service is starting.
    The Software Licensing service could not be started.

    A system error has occurred.

    System error 54273 has occurred.


    Also How to using System Restore to get back to a date? I don't have start menu, I use %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar to access cmd.exe

  • B)   If you receive any other error (System Error 5, System Error 57346 or System Error 54273): These occur as a result of massive file corruption.  We do not know what the root cause of the corruption is and this can be caused by any situation where files could be corrupted. However, from troubleshooting others that had this issue, the likeliest causes are either Malware Infection or failing Hard Drive.There are a few things you can try to resolve this issue
     
     
     
    a.    System Scan. The scan will look for bad Windows files and will attempt to repair them, if possible.
     
                                              i.    Login to Vista in Normal Mode (not safe mode)
     
                                            ii.    Launch an Internet Browser
     
                                           iii.    Type: %windir%\system32\ in the browser's address field
     
                                           iv.    Scroll down till you find the file cmd.exe
     
                                            v.    Right-click the file and select 'Run as Administrator'
     
                                           vi.    In the CMD window, type: sfc /scannow
     
                                          vii.    Reboot twice and see if that resolves the issue.
     
     
     
    b.    repairing Windows using System Restore:
     
                                              i.    Reboot Vista into Safe Mode
     
                                            ii.    Click the 'Start' button
     
                                           iii.    In the Start Search field, type: System Restore and hit 'Enter'  key
     
                                           iv.    Select "Choose Different Restore Point", Put a check in the box that says "Show restore points older than 5 days", select the restore point that corresponds to the date Before you first noticed the issue.
     
                                            v.    Click the "Next" button.
     
                                           vi.    Reboot back into Normal mode

    If System Restore is not available by this method - try this....

      i.    Login to Vista in Normal Mode (not safe mode)
     
                                            ii.    Launch an Internet Browser
     
                                           iii.    Type: %windir%\system32\ in the browser's address field

    iv.   scroll down untill you find the file 'rstrui,exe'  - double-click on it.

    That should launch System Restore.

     


     
    If neither of these sets of steps resolves the issue, my only other suggestions would be either to contact Vista support at http://support.microsoft.com or reinstall Vista.

    .... don't worry about errors in MGADiag when you hit the Copy button - the result can usually still be pasted into your response

  • Tried repairing Windows using System Restore, doesn't work.

  • Thanks for all the help. Problem solved. Actually looks like it is the itune caused the problem. I restored windowe before itune was installed, and it works.
