Visual Studio not signing my Plugin Assembly RRS feed

  • Question

  • I developed a plugin with Visual Studio (using vs 2015 & 2017), wanted to sign the Assembly in the properties/signing tab; supplied a name, but the signing operation was not successful.  There was an error message that says, "The Operation could not be completed."  Unfortunately, I see the same error whether I use vs 2015 or 2017 on the same laptop. I have been able to sign my Assembly in another laptop.

Please could anyone help me with some solutions to this problem?

Please note, I have uninstalled and reinstalled vs 2017, yet the problem was not solved.

    Thank you.

  • I got the problem fixed.  I signed in as Administrator and was able to sign my Assembly successfully.  But, you were correct, it was a permission issue.

    Thank you very much.

  • I've not come across this before, but a couple of things to try are:

    1. If using an existing key file (.snk), there could be permission issues, so you could try creating a new file
    2. You could take the 'delay signing' option, then use the command line tools to apply the key

Otherwise as this more of a Visual Studio issue, that a CRM one, I'd suggest asking in the Visual Studio forums.
