Install.. Kinda messy but it worked.. RRS feed

  • My install experience was a bit hazy...

    My system

    MSI K9N Neo-F Nforce 550 AM2

    AMD A64 X2 3800

    2 320G Seagate Sata2 16M drives

    2G Crucial Memory

Nvidia 7300GT 256M video card (it was cheap)

Couldnt get the raid drivers to install (even with the Vista/XP trick so disabled em (YECH)...

System install eventually failed... when trying to install drivers for the motherboard...

Manually installed the Windows XP drivers for the Nforce motherboard, ethernet came up..

Did not autoinstall my Realtek onboard audio.. Complained about the HD audio crap..

Heh ran windows update and got IE7 and some windows components..

Rebooted system again leaving Server CD in...

Install process restarted and eventually suceeded...

Ended up installing realtek WHQL drivers for audio and AMD CPU drivers ...

    It works..

Woulda liked to seen a bit better integrated support for motherboard drivers...

Also would rather use hardware raid then have windows take hold and seize both disk drives...

And even though im an admin, id like to be able to access the windows/microsoft update site.. Though it is hard-blocked now (adding it to the approved site list  didnt release it)
