Feature suggestion: upload pictures with WebDAV RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I use Community Server as my main blog engine. But web space there is limited by my blog provider, so I have to keep my blog images elsewhere. I set up Windows SharePoint Services on my own server just to store these images. Microsoft Office Word blogging mode has an option to upload pictures to any given location, and it works pretty good with SharePoint. I guess it uses WebDAV for this. But Writer can upload only to the blog itself or to Flickr/Pikasa/FaceBook/other image services when using corresponding plug-ins.

Ideally, it would also be nice to have an option to browse the directory of already uploaded images. And to see thumbnails there in orded to re-use some of previously uploaded images. But the ability to simply upload with WebDAV is a must.

  •  The view image gallery feature has come up a few times, but never made our list.  I would say it is pretty doubtful we will spend the time for uploading images via WebDAV.  Currently, you can use FTP to upload your images though, that might work for you. Otherwise, if WebDAV is a must, you might have to write a plugin.
