I think I might have just lost a lot of data so I could really do with some advice!
So I had a computer with Windows Home Server on it, has an 80gig HD and 2 500gigs in it.
20gig is the system volume for WHS and then the 60 left and the 2 500 drives have one extended volume on them. The beta version of WHS expired so I just installed windows server onto the old system volume (the 20gig one).
Problem is, I can now see the files in explorer, but when you try and open them it can't access them. I've tried everything I can think of in disk management but I can't get at them. In disk management it even shows the free space on the drives and says they have data on them.
What you're seeing is normal; that's how Drive Extender works. Do some more reading in the forums, and take a look at the Drive Extender technical brief.
I've now given each of the drives a letter (e and f). And I can see all the files now. But its no longer one big volume so half the folders are in one drive and half the folders the other. Least I can now access the data though!
