How to install a ComputeNode when headnode is clustered? RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I want to install ComputeNodes when I have a clustered headnode, do I enter the hostname of one of the actual servers in the headnode cluster? Or the clustername?

E.g. I have these two headnode servers

    HeadNodeServerA

    HeadNodeServerB

that are in Windows Server Failover Cluster: "HPCHeadNodeCluster"

Do I install ComputeNodes and enter "HeadNodeServerA" as headnode?

Or do I install HPC ComputeNodes by entering "HPCHeadNodeCluster" as headnode?

Answers

  • Neither. The high availablity head node name is the name of the File Server role in the Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC), not the node names in WSFC or the WSFC name. Refer here for details.
