Video/Voice over IPSec VPN Tunnels RRS feed

  • Question

OK.  I have looked everywhere and cannot find a solution.

Our network setup is as follows:

We have a main datacenter where all of our servers sit including our OCS 2007 server.  In that datacenter, we have a Cisco ASA 5520.  At each home office, we have ASA 5505s.  They are connected back to the datacenter through an IPSec VPN tunnel (always on).  All traffic is exempted and not blocked.  Every other resource works fine (IM, Email, RDP, Internet, etc.).  When I go to use video it acts like it's connecting and then fails.  It works fine between the datacenter and 1 remote office, but when you go office to office, it bombs...

    Any suggestions?

  • It might well be that packets are to big to be sent over the VPN

RT-Audio/Video is sent over TCP and packet size by default is 1500

You should check that setting if Firewall VPN does not block packets bigger that certain size

OCS is not designed to work over VPN connections

If you want remote access you should deploy an EDGE Server

Does not require any VPN connectivity
