Can't validate genuine Windows XP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I need some help getting my aunts computer validated.  Her PC is connected to a dial-up connection at home so never gets updated.  I've brought it to my house to update it for her.  The Windows update site successfully installs the Genuine Advantage software.  However, to install more updates, it needs to be validated.  When I click continue to do this, it just takes me to a Microsoft error page saying 'Sorry, we've been unable to service this request for you'.  So I unable to even *attempt* to validate her copy of Windows, and I can't proceed with the updates until this has been done.

How do I get this copy of Windows to validate (bearing in mind it is a genuine copy, so it should validate no bother)?

    Thanks very much,

PS - I've just realised I've posted this in completely the wrong forum.  Terribly sorry, I came here via a link from Google, I didn't realise I was in a Vista only section.  Sorry!

  • Please follow this simple diagnostic troubleshooting procedure:

    1. Download and run the MGA Diagnostic Tool:

    2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy".

    3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the
"WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the
results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post.

    4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and
        recommend an appropriate solution.
