I am using Defender as antispyware - installed on the C: drive of the HomeServer I have.Are there any major issues that I should be aware of - I am hoping that WinDef will not'break' WHS at all?!?!?!?Saturday, February 6, 2010 8:10 PM

You should only use an antivirus/antimalware product that's designed for Windows Home Server. Right now, there's a free version of BitDefender that the publisher says is okay for Windows Home Server, and there are paid versions of Avast! and Fsecure. There's also a version of McAfee that's distributed with some OEM servers, but as far as I know you can't buy and install it separately.

My OEM supplied McAfee - the licence ran out, so I got 'ordinary' McAfee, and downloaded it to the WHS desktop - it has worked successfully.So far, Windows Defender is doing a good job likewise - but as advised - if it's not specifically designed for WHS, you might not want to try it!Sunday, February 7, 2010 9:42 AM
