Communicator crush RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installation Communicator crushes on a particular PC.

    It shows as the green icon upon startup however exhibits error reporting screeen when user tries to open it.

     

    Any suggestions or recommendatinos for troubleshooting?

  • Third party software was to blame. We have reviewed and uninstalled every piece of software user might not need.

    Eventually software called SalesLogix was removed and newer version was installed. It fixed Communicator crushes.

  • First thing would be to ensure you run the latest communicator build on your workstation

  • The following is true about the setup:

    1) Office 2003 is installed along with all necessary Office 2003 SPs and latest patches.

    2) Communicator is installed.

    3) Communicator update is installed as per the link above.

  • This KB mentions the same problem as you are experiencing but it should have been resolved along with the update you installed.

    Now before you launch communicator again can you launch task manager and see if you have any communicator processes running in the background?

     

    Is Outlook already running when communicator starts up? If not can you launch it first and then start communicator?

     

    Do you see any errors in the eventviewer?

     

    what is the exact error message you receive when the application crashes?
