Invalid Copy Of Office Pro 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
I have downloaded the genuine office validator and now get a message saying that my copy of office 2003 is not valid.
I purchased this copy years ago when i had a computer built, that shop has now closed down, i have since then purchased a dell computer and installed the oem office software onto this computer and have had no problems till now.

I'm now about to Request a complimentary copy of Office, but the form asks for the resellers company name and address, how am i supposed to supply this when the shop closed about 3 years ago?

    Regards
    George

  • Hello GW_P,

Fly-by-night computer shops selling counterfeit software close all the time (and unfortunately have a tendency to open up in the next town), so entering a shop that's no longer is business is not going to be something new.  Your report will not be rejected for entering a shop name and address that is no longer in business.

Thank You for participating in the OGA program...hopefully your report can do its part to help to curb software piracy.

  • Hello GW_P,

Well, I have my credit card receipts from 2002..... :-)

I believe that the instructions for submitting the materials state something along the lines of Microsoft is going to be "flexible" in what it considers as an adequate receipt.

A receipt is a record of a transaction where one would enter the seller information, the date of the transaction, the product name, the price paid, and possibly the buyer's name and signature.  I'm sure if such were sent in, it would satisfy the requirement.
