  • Hi Suresh

There are a couple of different certification paths you can follow.

Lets start with MS Office first.

The Office certification series are known as MCAS (Microsoft Certified Application Specialist) .. More information can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mbc.aspx .. Additionally there is an MCAS Master certification if you manage to pass a number of different MCAS exams. You can register for these exams with Certiport to do the exams http://www.certiport.com/Portal/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=181&roleid=102

    Now with SQL Server 2008

There are a total of 6 different certifications on SQL Server 2008. There are 3 MCTS certifications which are the "how do you do X on Y technology" certs and there are also 3 MCITP or Pro level certs which are "Why would you do X instead of Y" type. To get the MCITP you need the MCTS as well.

There are three different paths in SQL 2008 each with their own MCTS and MCITP certification. These are

    • Database Administration
    • Database Development
    • Business Intelligence Admin and Development

    So Database Administration
    • 70-432 MCTS SQL Server 2008 Database Admin
    • 70-450 MCITP SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator
    Database Development
    • 70-433 MCTS SQL Server Database Development
    • 70-451 MCITP SQL Server Database Developer
    Business Intelligence
All exams are booked through Prometric (www.prometric.com)
If you let us know which field and your experience level we can help you a bit more to get a better understanding of your exam requirements.
