Win 7 not genuine after installing Norton 360 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought computer pre-installed w windows on a SSD.  Installed Norton 360 a couple of months later and almost immediately, it was "not genuine".  I would assume there is a problem w Norton 360.  I have tried many things and nothing has worked at this time.  I contacted the computer company which is a large reputable one but they have not been much help at this time

  • Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

    Recreate the Licensing Store

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt

Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

    net stop sppsvc

(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

    CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform

    REN tokens.dat tokens.bar

    net start sppsvc

    slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.

You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.

If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

  • Dude!  That was it!!!  I am wondering what led you to that?  I would guess it was this...

    HWID Data-->
    N/A, hr = 0x8007000d

See that one a lot?  I heavily suspect that it was Norton Antivirus that messed it all up...

    Damn you, NORTON!!!

    :)

  • It has to be said that many of the cases of this one that I see have had Norton installed at some stage - although it's not clear whether it's Norton itself causing the problem, or it's a confilst between the residuals of uninstalled AV's and installed ones.

Glad we got there in the end.:)

    Good luck
