Non Genuine Office 2007 - Trouble reporting piracy and ordering replacement copy RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, like several people on the forum I have discovered (after a recent windows update) that my version of Office is not genuine even though I have the flash box and the hologram cds...

I have done everything I have been asked in terms of validating my copy and submitting a piracy report. however when I try to send through my details for the replacement copy, I get an error message saying:

Your machine is unable to run the components required to complete the ordering process for the Office Genuine Advantage Kit. It appears that the ActiveX control cannot run properly on your machine.

Could someone please advise what the problem is?

I have also posted below the report from the MS Genuine advantage diagnostic tool

    Thank so much in advance

  • Hello gmac77,

The reporting and ordering process requires OGA active-x controls to run on the computer from which the application is being submitted.  Apparently that's not working correctly on your computer.

Please visit the online diagnostic site and click on the Start Diagnostics button:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/default.aspx?

Please come back and let us know what it found and if you were able to correct the issue.

  • Hi Dan, thanks very much for your answer, I have already done that (and have just run it again) and everything passed:

    Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Results

    Passed Active scripting allowed
    Passed Display images enabled
Passed Computer time and date correct
    Passed Cookies enabled
    Passed ActiveX enabled
    Passed Windows validation ActiveX loaded
    Passed Office validation ActiveX loaded
    Passed Validation Self-help ActiveX loaded

I also physically went and check that Active X was enabled, which it was.

I still can't get the order to go through.

    Thanks again.

  • Hello gmac77,

At this point IMO it would be best for you to submit a request for free email tech support for your issue:
    https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=11482&st=1

When they get if fixed for you, could you come back here to let us know the solution?  Thanx!  :-)

  • Hi Dan, finally I have fixed the problem. Here are the steps advised by MS that worked.

IMPORTANT: Kindly disable all third party security programs while troubleshooting in order to avoid confliction.

    Step 1: Internet Explorer Settings

    --------------------------------------------------

    1. Click Start, on Start Search, type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotes) and Enter.

    2. Go to Advanced tab, click on Restore advanced settings.

    3. Under Settings, please locate "Enable third party browser extensions" and clear the checkbox.

    4. Go to Programs tab, click on Make default and also tick Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser.

    5. Go to General tab, click on Delete and then Delete again after checking all the boxes.

    6. Please exit all opened Internet Explorer.

    Step 2: Reset Security Settings

    ---------------------------------

    1. Click Start, on Start Search, type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotes) and Enter.

    2. The Internet Options will appear.

    3. Go to Security tab.

    4. Select Reset all zones to default level.

    5. Click Apply and OK.

    6. Restart the computer and check the issue.

    Thanks Gina

  • Hello gmac77,

It looks like they had you reset IE back to all-default settings, so there must have been some obscure setting that was keeping the active-x applets from working correctly.  We'll have to keep that in mind for anyone who posts in the future with a similar situation.  Thanks for keeping us posted! :-)

Did you send away your counterfeit materials and get your free :-) replacements yet?
