Best approach to insert orders into CRM Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a asp ecommerce website with a sql azure database. We manually add an Account entity in CRM for every website user. There is only a small number of users & about 20 orders per week. Each order however will have about 200 line items.

An console app has already been developed which worked fine up until we moved to SQL Azure which has certain timeout limits & now will timeout.

So I dont want to dwell on that, rather request some advice on what would be the best approach to take.

Could I somehow use workflows to do some of the work? If so what work could they do?

Should I create a staging database that adds the extra information that crm requires (price lists etc)?

Any other ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  • You could create an Azure worker role. That could read the data from SQL Azure and establish connection with CRM and post orders there.

As far as connection timeout is concerned if you make sure you refresh the connection before every create/update it should work just fine.
