  • Hi,

I would recommend http://msdn.microsoft.com/library for preparation - together with the exam pages:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-536&locale=en-us#tab3
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-433&locale=en-us#tab3

That way you go through the primary reference of everything.

But if you need it offline, you could download the msdn library of visual studio 2008 to your system. (Or just install the offline help of Visual Studio 2010 and download all content. But maybe some important content is missing. So in the new help, you only get the documentation of the new SQL Server and not the 2008R2 one!)

So that is really the best source in my eyes. I do NOT recommend any free braindumps or so. The main thing about the certifications are:
    - LEARN it!
    - Then just get the exam as proove, that you learned it.

No offence - but my opinion is easy to understand:
Using braindumps might give you the certification but you will also quickly earn a title of a comedian. I just imagine a MCPD that does not know some simple basics ... You wouldn't get through an interview in our company and we would be even mad at you because we wasted time on you. But maybe you are looking for a bad reputation?

One last hint: Maybe you want to check the new Visual studio 2010 exams instead of the old 2008 ones:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx#tab2

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • Very helpful information.Exactly what I was looking for .I am preparing for the exam as well  .One question though on

"One last hint: Maybe you want to check the new Visual studio 2010 exams instead of the old 2008 ones:"

I thought you would not be able to appear for the VS2010 exam directly  so would have to work your way up by passing VS2008  first .Please correct me if i am wrong.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

you do not have to take the Visual Studio 2008 exams before the 2010 ones.

But of course: it is possible. But if you take the 2008 exams first (which I wouldn't recommend!), then you no longer take the normal 2010 exams. Instead you upgrade your MCPD exams. The link provided in my first reply also shows the upgrade paths available.

So I would recommend to start with 70-515 (in case of web development), 70-511 (In case you mainly develop Windows Desktop applications) or 70-506 (Silverlight). But I think that the 706 exam still misses good preparation materials. (I love the self-paced tarining kits!)

But of course: If you have to work alot with Databases, 70-433 makes sense and maybe you want to proceed with 70-516 which covers the data access in .Net.

The big advantage with 2010 exams is, that you directly earn a MCTS certification with your first exam. In 2008 exams, you had to do the 70-536 first which just granted access to the MCP site.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
