One Time Credit Card Charge RRS feed

  • Question

  • I do not like the fact that to use Live OneCare (by the way a good product) my only option is to use a credit card setup for automatic yearly renewal. I have heard this is the reason a number of people decide not to continue using Microsoft Live OneCare.

I'm also considering cancelling my Live OneCare subscription if my only option is recuring, automatic yearly billing to my credit card. There are lots of similar products on the market so I don't have to be a slave to Live OneCare. After all, if a company has a good product, their customers will renew their subscriptions without being forced to renew.

  • This is only a requirement if you prefer online automated  billing. The other option is to purchase a boxed copy of the product from any store, either in store or online, sometimes even for a discount. Then use the 25 character PIN found inside the box to perform the activation. This can also be used as a method to renew the subscription in following years.

I've done this myself for the installation I use on my nephew's PC, where I don't want my credit card associated with the copy I've installed on that PC.
