MS Office XP Professional Validation Issues with Office Home 2007

Question
-
Ok, so I've been making my own greeting cards lately, using templates off the Microsoft site. I go to download a template, and it says I don't have Office 2007, so I downloaded the Student Trial version. I installed and activated it successfully, and return to the page to download the template, it asks to verify that I have genuine software and I allow.
It won't allow me to download the template because it says that Microsoft Office XP Professional is not genuine, now why in the world does it even matter?! I'm not trying to use Office XP, I'm trying to use the freakin software I just downloaded! I don't know why it says Office XP isn't genuine, it came with the freakin computer!
So now I spent a day downloading and installing software that I have no use for. This is one hell of a way to try to get me to upgrade when I CAN'T EVEN USE IT FOR WHAT I DOWNLOADED IT FOR!
So naturally I figure, hey I'll just get rid of Office XP, I got to the Add/Remove Programs click remove, and it won't let me, it says the installation source cannot be found. WHY DOES IT MATTER? I just want to remove the freakin software, but I can't.
I have a Office XP I can't use because it's outdated with online templates, and a 2007 Office Home I can't use because it claims my Office XP isn't genuine EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT EVEN TRYING TO USE OFFICE XP!
Thank's for screwing me over again Microsoft, any help would be greatly appreciated....Friday, August 15, 2008 4:31 AM

DontLikeMS,
I can see right away what the issue is and why you are not passing validation. Unfortunately, the product key used to install the Office XP Professional is a Volume License Key (VLK) that has been blocked per the request of the legal VLK holder.
Also please review the Validation Advisor for further guidance at:
https://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/ValidationHelp.aspx
First, if this comes as a total surprise to you, please visit the retailer where you purchased the software and let them know the software is a counterfeit copy. Please print a copy of the diagnostic report so you may show them proof for the VLK status. Request they immediately reimburse you and/or provide a Genuine Copy. In the event this is a corporate computer, please contact the IT Support Department to obtain the correct product key assigned to the corporation.
Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) is here to help protect YOU, our valued customer. It is important for more people like you to report piracy @ http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/default.mspx who have become victims. Microsoft legal will follow up on all leads provided. You may be eligible for free software if you have high quality counterfeit discs as illustrated here:http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/content.aspx?displaylang=en&pg=counterfeit
Again, we are sorry to hear about your situation. Please be sure to backup or otherwise offload any data from the hard disk because a clean installation/reimaging will destroy all personal user data on the hard drive. Please don't hesitate re-posting if you need further assistance.

Don'tLikeMS,
Try using the Office Removal Wizard http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011401771033.aspx included as part of the Office 2003 Resource Kit.
To download, scroll down this page http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2003ddl.htm unitl you see Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit.
You use the Offcln.exe file from the version of Office that is one version newer than the one you have installed because the 2003 version expects to remove Office XP and previous editions of Office.

Don'tLikeMS,
You can also use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility here at :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
to remove Office XP.
However to confirm the status of Office XP please run follow the steps below:
1. Ensure you log onto the computer experiencing the issue with “Administrator” rights.
2. Next we would like to confirm that you are running the most current version of the Genuine Advantage control on your computer. Please follow the below link and choose the “Validate Office” option.
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
If the above steps did not resolve your issue lets continue with the steps below.
If you could also please follow the steps outlined below, the diagnostics Web Site will attempt to resolve the validation errors you are experiencing with Office.
http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en
Next follow the on-screen prompts to resolve the issue if any of the checks at the above site fail. If, after attempting to resolve the issue as per the instructions on the above site fails, please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool:http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.
Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.
1. After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.
2. Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.

Don't Like MS,
Looking at your mgadiag report, it's showing that pesky Office XP that's nongenuine is still installed.
You didn't write any comments along with your post, so we aren't sure if you tried either or both of the two suggested methods of exorcising that bogus installation of Office XP.
Post back and let us know where you stand at the moment.
