re-deploy : export users to new organization RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Every now and then (once a week, on average) we come across a "system" problem.
This time it is about re-deployment of the organization from
a trial version to Business ready license (on the same domain).

After reading the resultion steps to the symptom of not being able to
upgrade from trial version to business ready, we arrived at a knowledge
    base article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947272/en-us
promising that those who follow these and that steps
will eventually have the configuration restored (trial version
and the client "import customizations" are not an option since the
export was done using trial version).

In step no 11 on that kb, we "Next-Next" the wizard untill the point that we
    have to import users groups.

It seems that the CRM formerly granted access privileges to group of users in the
ACTIVE DIRECTORY which should be imported again now from somewhere we don't know.
There should be an xml file to restore this metabase information.

(The xml file in the client export cutomization "system users" line is not giving
the metabase information about these group os users in the active directory.

So, how can I restore that information (xml file)?

    Thanks for your advice.

  • You need to map any user records in your database to user records in AD.  You can either setup some rules to "auto-map" these users or you can map each one individually.  The wizard provides these options, but you have to map them or you can't use the system.
