  • From your MGA report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK

Unfortunately, the install copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 is non-genuine and counterfeit.  It was installed using a Volume License product key that was never issued by Microsoft.  The product key was likely created using an illegal product key generator.  To review your options, please visit Microsoft Genuine Advantage and click on Validate Office.  When validation fails, click on the Get Genuine button for further information.

  • Thank you for your prompt reply Carey. Its good to know that people out there can help when you have been assured that you are buying/bought a genuine product.
I will see what the complimentary offer can do.

  • Hello spirerik,

Your first option should be to pursue the person or company that sold you the product in December 2008.  If the product was sold to you as Office 2007 Professional retail license, then they sold you counterfeit software.

The Microsoft Complimentary program, as I read the details, only applies to those who purchased nongenuine Office preinstalled on their computer.  Again, IMO, your circumstances do not seem to fit that description.  If you send off your materials, you will not have them if needed to get satisfaction from the original seller.

BTW, genuine retail licenses for Office 2007 Professional are permitted two installations, one on the owners main computer and one the owners portable computer.

The only retail license for Office 2007 that I am aware of that allows three installations is Office Home and Student 2007, and those three installations are to be used on computers in the same household and on computers not used for commercial purposes.

Here's how to view the Software Licensing Terms for Office 2007: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012340811033.aspx

  • Hi Dan, after reading your report, is it right that if I send off my discs, box etc, then I will not receive a replacement because it was not pre installed onto my computer?
The seller sold the item as genuine retail with COA, I have emailed him with no reply. Contacted ebay, but they cannot do anything because it was purchased more than 40 days ago, and I am not covered by paypal. You would think that the discs are genuine, as they both are fully hologramed, with the COA on the top edge, that is also hologramed, and the product key inside and with all booklets and brochures. On the back cover, which is a booklet type, it states on the bottom that this product is licensed for up to three computers non commercial use.
Anyway, it seems that I am up the creek without a paddle!
    Rich.

  • Hello spirerik,

Please have a look at this page:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/OGAKitInformation.aspx?displaylang=en

That is the page that I can view for customers from the USA.  Since you are in the UK your page may be different.  According to what is on that page at the moment, there does not seem to be a proviso that the complimentary offer is only extended to those who had their counterfeit Office program preinstalled on their computers.

However, the FAQ on a different page http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EAPAC gives us this:

"Details of the genuine Office Complimentary Offer

    A:

A counterfeit disc is required in order to be eligible for the complimentary offer. This allows customers to show that a counterfeit transaction occurred. Customers who did not receive a counterfeit disk can purchase the Office Genuine Advantage Kit directly through Microsoft."

Depending upon how you read the wording, you may or may not come to the conclusion that the Office Complimentary Offer requires that the counterfeit Office be preinstalled.
