Vista x64 suddenly not genuine but shows 'Windows is activated'

Question
-
After installing a new Dvd-Rom drive to my computer i suddenly get the message as shown in Steveo0000's question. The only difference between my issue is that mine does not use run in reduced functionality mode.
Upon accessing www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking the validate button, it shows that my computer is running a genuine copy of vista x64 but when pressing 'windows key' + 'ause/break' buttons the bottom of the window tells me that i have 3 days left to activate. Upon clicking that, i get the message that "The Windows Vista(tm) product key you typed is invalid for activation"
This is really annoying as i am a student and i use this computer for all my work and as a remote administrator for my whole families computers, they live miles away from where i stay and to get to the workstation to alter and upgrade their systems is very time consuming and tedious.
I also have another version installed seperately on this computer for the use of adobe software because my x64 installation will not run it properly.
So far i have;
Accessed the genuine site
Restarted my computer multiple times
flushed the caches and bios
But so far i am unable to find the MGA.EXE tool
i do hope that someone is able to help me.
thankyou in advance for your help- Split by Stephen Holm Friday, June 12, 2009 1:31 AM splitting thread....stephen
