Not a complaint since its logical, just information for those who may not already know.
A 1TB drive failed in one of my clients and since I was using less than 25% of the disk and had a spare 750GB on hand I went for it....not allowed. WHS2011 will not allow bare metal restore to any disk thats even 1 byte smaller than the one backed
up....talking disk capacity, not data actually backed up.
I put in another 1TB (previously used) disk, refromatted it, but still no go as it was 1 byte shy. I had to delete the partition and reinitialize the disk as a simple volume to get the 1 byte back then all worked as it should.
Again just an information post to prevent anyone from wasting a bit of time as I did.
