Validation popup on a validated copy of Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I've started getting a popup on one of our workstations stating the copy of windows is invalid.  I've tried running chkdsk as well as sfc, amongst other attempts to fix, including the link on the popup.  However, nothing seems to have fixed it yet.  When i look in the properties of my computer it shows it is activated.  This is an application server, so formatting and reinstalling Windows is only a last resort.  I've ran the diagnostic report for review.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Tampered File: %systemroot%\system32\wat\npwatweb.dll

    Close all open windows.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and type the following command

    wusa /uninstall /kb:971033

    and hit the Enter key

Accept the warnings/confirmations, and wait for it to complete

copy and paste the output (if any) from the command prompt window to a reply here,

    Reboot

    reinstall the update from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

    Reboot

run another MGADiag report, and post it.
