IDE optical Drive and Sata System drive

Question
-
Hi All, I'm still waiting for parts to arrive but I'd like to confirm that I could leave my IDE optical DVD/CD drive connected and have my Sata system drive connected to the first sata port.
I'm just wandering if the bios would repot the optical drive or the sata drive as "port 0", as I know how important it is to have the system drive (sata drive) as port 0.
Hope my question makes sense
Regards

Yes, it should work. Chances are the only time you would have a potential problem is if at some point in time, you added a PATA hard drive to the server (which would use the IDE connection). Then you might have a problem with Server Reinstallation (should it ever become necessary).

Hi Jack,
you can leave it that way.
Only the boot sequence of disks is it, what matters.
Anyway, if your Bios supports it, you could change the SATA controller mode to IDE/ATA/PATA compatible to reduce the hassles with suppling SATA drivers.
