Backup WHS sharepoint install RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello-

I have spent weeks installing and configuring WSS on my WHS box, and eveything is running great. I moved the SQL database to the D: drive using the scripts, etc. I will be heartbroken if something happens and I have to start all over with this project. Is there any way to back this up so that if the system drive fails, I can restore all my work and Sharepoint data?

  • Umm, easily? Probably not, given that both the Windows Home Server team and the Sharepoint team have said that Sharepoint on Windows Home Server is unsupported.

However, if you have some expertise with Sharepoint, probably you will be able to use pretty much the same tools and techniques that you would use with any other installation. If you don't have much expertise, I'm sure there are a number of good books on the subject, or you could ask in a Sharepoint newsgroup or forum.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
