Cannot connect Mac with Lion to WHS 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of the reasons I bought WHS 2011 was to backup my Mac (I'm not a big fan of the Time Machine thing) - except that it doesn't seem to work at all. When I try running the connector install (from the web page that gives me the option to install "Mac Software") it tells me that it's already installed, which is of course nonsense. Does this thing work with the Mac or not? So far I've tried to connect 5 computers (4 Windows and one Mac) and of the 5 exactly 2 connect correctly; I'm sure glad I saved my old WHS install since this 2011 thing appears close to unusable in its current state.

  • Hi,

Sorry but Lion is not supported by WHS2011. We are all waiting for an update from Microsoft. For making a backup from a mac to the WHS2011 you need a add-in. Look at http://www.wegotserved.com/page/2/ for more info on this.

This add-in however makes enables only Timemachine to backup to the WHS2011.

If you don't like Timemachine i suggest to use Crashplan. Its free and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Sorry for my bad englisch but i am Dutch
