Getting started with a PBX RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

I have just set up the OCS and it is working fine with users who can make soft phone calls to eachother. However I am puzzled to how I can get it working with a SIP PBX. I have a zultys mx on the same network with a few office phones attached.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction to kick me off getting this all working? No matter how simple, I really haven't a clue where to start.

    Many many thanks

  • Hi Druid,

You have to setup a mediation server. This is explained in "OCS_VoIp_Guide.doc".

    Find the documentation here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0A3E2593-5812-4BF5-A554-3215CBBA587A&displaylang=en

  • Thats a great help, many thanks

I read in the documentation that there is a Microsoft Office Communicator Phone Edition? Where can this be obtained from? I see no links, and Google doesn't shed any light?

  • Microsoft Office Communicator Phone Edition is a "hard" phone (a office communicator client in a pone) that will be released later.

You don’t need one to get OCS to make and recive phone calls via your PBX

All you do is install the mediation server and point the sip traffic from your PBX to it.

But there are not so many IP PBX supported right now so you might have to get a SIP GW between your PBX and your mediation server.

Those can be obtained from http://www.dialogic.com/ or http://www.audiocodes.com/
