Genuine VISTA for WGA but not for the desktop picture RRS feed

  • Question

I think that this is one of the weirdest errors ever.

I reinstalled VISTA on my laptop because it wasn't running smoothly, and everything was fine.

Then, all of a sudden, a message appeared on the lower right hand corner:

    Windows Vista (TM)

    Build 6000

This copy of Windows is not original

Besides the fact that this copy of Vista is original and activated, I ran the WGA tools and it confirmed that this copy is original.

Now, why do I have that message?

    Hi dbev,

In order to recieve the best support, we request all users initially go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click the "Validate Windows" button. If there are any problems, look to the lower left of the page for a light gray error code similar to this [0xc004c4a8]. Record this code then run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report and the error code, into a response message in this thread.

    Thank you,
