I received the error: "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine." I personally built this PC and installed all software, including Windows 7. I have been trying to fix a problem regarding the inability to start "superfetch". RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been working on a couple of problems with my PC regarding superfetch and printerspool and noticed a very low number on the Windows 7 performance of 2.9 due to the number of calculations per second.  Nothing is wrong with the AMD Athlon II chip.  Finally ended up with the ...not genuine message.  This is the MS diagnostic report.

I was successful in removing the noted ERROR, using the published procedure within this Forum.  The most recent issue I have now is that I execute the "Change Product Key" and it shows a successful change, but it does not reflect the key.  As noted in the above, my product key is correct, but what shows is the "Windows Product ID".  At this point, I am confused and still reading.

  • Windows will only ever show hte Product ID - not the Key.

To be able to see the Key, you need to use third-party software such as Belarc Advisor or Magical JellyBean.

The above report was apparently genrated while in Safe Mode - which is why it doessn't show all details, and has the error message 0x8007043c.
