  • Checkbox of "Enable Presence for the system" should be enabled from Settings > Administration > System settings.

Besides this for individual grids of contact and user you need to check following check box from "First Name" column properties of view.

  • Hi Mohammad,

The communication option is Microsoft Lync that is embedded in Dynamics CRM 2011. Lync provides the ability to communicate from the context of Dynamics CRM by providing a richer collaborative experience with consistent presence, click to call options and a new Contact Card. When Lync is turned on you can view users online presence and communicate with them via IM or video chat instantaneously right from the context of the CRM Opportunity, contatcs etc record.

To turn on the IM presenence: Go to CRM Settings->Administration->System Settings , in General tab under the "IM presence" section make sure to choose Yes for option"Enable presence for the system"

  • Hi Javeed,

I configured Lync Server 2010.I have two Lync clients which are  working fine. ie i am able to ping and call.

I have accessed  MS CRM 2011 on same machine where Lync clients are installed.I have enabled Lync IM Presence in MS CRM 2011.

I have also added  a column  "First Name" in Users  view .Still I am not able to see the users presence(Currently two users which are online) in MSCRM 2011.

Can you suggest me the solution of this problem.

    Thanks,

    Yusuf Ansari

  • Hi Yusuf,

Make sure that you are using the users have same Active Directory accounts assosiated and email address  with Lync User and Dynamics CRM 2011 user profie.

Try also creating contact with the same email address and check if it helps.

  • Hi Mohamed,

After enabling IM presence, make sure that Lync client is running on the system and users have same active directory accounts assosiated in the profile if it still not work then try reset CRM server (in command prompt type iisreset and hit enter). Also try run CRM outlook/browser client after runnign Lync client.

    Hope this will help you.

  • Hi,

It works with brower also, you may try outlook client. There is no formal document available regarding the builtin intergation and users may face difficulties during troubleshooting. Try also accesing CRM server from a Lync Server via browser.

  • I've tried accessing the crm server from lync server and it works just fine, as for the document where can i get it from.

I don't mean whether from the browser or not. I mean does the outlook client have to be installed?

  • Hi,

I mistakenly miss Not, there is currently no formal document available regarding this. In CRM 4.0 it does not work without outlook but in CRM 2011, i saw running without Outlook client. I suggest you to try with Outlook.

  • Not sure whether you got an answer to this. The component that enables the integration between Lync and CRM (and also SharePoint) is Name.DLL, and it is installed with Office. You won't have it on your machine if you have no office components installed.

In addition, your CRM site will need to be added to either the Intranet zone, or Trusted Sites in IE on the client machine.

  • Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am wondering if anybody has found out more about Lync presence and Crm 2011. It seems to work fine in the web client, but I am yet to see any proof of it working in the Outlook client.

    Anybody got any info?
