CRM Database Upgrade to SQL 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Folks:

Here is the our CRM environment:

CRM 4.0, Reporting Services 2005 on Server XYZ - 32 bit
SQL Server 2005 on Server ABC - 32 bit

I will be upgrading our database server from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2. SQL 2008 R2 will be on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit. I have the details on the instructions for upgrading. Question is because my CRM and Reporting services are on the same server, the Reporting services will be upgraded to SQL 2008 but on 32 bit. Is this possible and will it have any issues?

    Thanks !

  • I had a similar configuration running in my previous job. I upgraded the SQL Server to 2008 64-bit, but I left SSRS on the application server at version 2005. I imagine that if SSRS didn't mind its databases running on a different SQL version, it'd probably be OK in your situation, too.
