Receive Error 0xC004D401

Question
-
I got a error 0xC004D401 today and when my computer restarted there was just the dialogue box and nothing else. I've been getting blue screens every so often for a while but it always restarted fine. I don't have installed any of the conflicting programs like TrendMicro. I'm currently running the Microsoft Safety Scanner; if it turns up anything, I'll post that. I'm using Avast for antivirus.
I used the diagnostic tool and this was the output:

Thanks, I didn't actually look at the main forum page, just searched for the error.
I uninstalled Avast but when I try to validate Windows it never finishes. It says it can take a few minutes but its been well over 45. I'm going to install the Microsoft Security anti-virus but it seems that's supposed to finish first.
