2013 to 2015 migrate user RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are upgrading to 2015 and reworked the entities, so now all the old 2013 data has to be loaded into the 2015 database.  Many entities rely on systemuser for ownerid and that relationship must be retained for security.  Can't find an easy way to migrate users, but it seems we need to either set or later change the GUID of the systemuser to match what it was in 2013.  How can I do that in .NET?

  • Cant you import the old 2013 database onto the new server and then map the users during this process. Then there is no migration need and all user info is intact??

  • Unfortunately, the entities have changes so a database migration won't work.  Some big changes such as using the contact table instead of leads and that's just one example.

  • Hi,

Migration is not that amusing. Can you use the SSIS tool that Kingswaysoft has developed? I think you can push userdata with set GUIDs with it. Otherwise I would have found a way to match the users in the old database and the new system, email address is often a good "unique id" and then map the owning users using that.

    Good luck!
