Office 2007 2nd Hand

Question
-
Dear All
I have bought Windows Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Professional, both at www.cex.co.uk, the popular 2nd hand supplier. I thought they only sold sealed copies because I tried to trade in my used and uninstalled Windows XP Professional, Windows 98 and Visual C++ .NET last week but they only took sealed copies.
When I got home with the new software, I have noticed that Office was already opened and that the previous owner had copied the product key as the person wrote it on a piece of paper rested on top of the back of the box and therefore engraved. Windows was however still sealed. Upon installation, online activation with Windows was successful but I had to ring through to the Activation Helpdesk because Office was already activated by the previous owner.
Although I have activated it successfully over the phone, I am worried that the previous owner might still have it installed illegally on their computer and if the Office Genuine Advantage system detects that two copies are in use with me being the genuine user, one day it could flag up on my screen saying that my Office is no longer genuine!
Any comments?
Regards

Greeting Mate,
Did you explain this over the telephone to the activation center? You should be fine if you received another product key. Also you can take the product back to the store and explain the situation with them. IN turn they should give your pounds back. Then you can buy the product from MS Marketplace or a certified source.

UK3160,
First you would need to validate if Office Suite is genuine or non-genuine. Should Office be non-genuine then you would follow the proceedures from the website. I understand the concerns you have but first we need to check the status. This would entail installing Office and then running the MGA.

I answered the questions that the activation center asked me with my honest answers. It was the first time I was activating and it was only installed on one computer. They then gave me the confirmation ID and that was it. The product key that was used was the one in the case. I have all the evidence that I have the genuine software which is the COA, CD, key, documentation, etc.Thursday, June 14, 2007 7:41 AM

Having read from your previous post about another product key, how would I go about that? Could I open a support incident and link it to the forum, send Support photographs of the COA, product key, CDs, purchase receipt, etc, get the old key blocked and get a new one?Thursday, June 14, 2007 4:07 PM
