How to hide user from Address Book

    Question

  • Is there a way to hide a user from the Address Book, so only other users that specifically know THAT user's contact address can add them to their Contact List?

This user in particular DOES NOT have an Exchange account, so I can't get to the "Hide from Address Book" tab in AD because there are no Exchange options.

  • Joe,

Even though that user account is not mailbox-enabled you can still hide it from the address book by setting the raw attribute.

Using ADSIedit you can set the value of msExchHideFromAddressLists to TRUE.  Then re-run the abserver commands and replace the GALcontacts.db to verify the changes in the OCS Address Book:

You can check the OCS User Replicator log ID 30028 to see if the value is incremented for the "number of objects excluded since they have 'hide from AB' attribute set to TRUE"

Once the user is removed from the OCS AB then OC users can still IM them by entering their complete SIP address (user@domain.com) into the Find bar.
