Automatically associate contact to a lead RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a question in regards to having a contact automatically associated to a lead. When we create a lead we want a workflow to automatically create a contact. It should be based off of the fields in the lead (first name, last name, email, address and phone) and show up in the contacts view of the lead.

We have a workflow developed to trigger when a lead is created to create the contact with the set properties from the lead form.

Our issue is the originating lead is correct (If you go to the contact and click on originating lead it brings you to the correct lead) but it is not showing up in the contacts view of the lead.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Thanks!

    Dave

  • Is that an N:N relationship?  If so, I'm not sure you're going to be able to do what you want.

However, if it's an N:1 relationship, you just need to find on the Contact the Leads lookup value that is related to that Associated Contacts list.  It's not the Originating Lead lookup, so you're going to have to find it.

  • Can you screenshot where it's not showing up?  You might have to explicitly update one more field/relationship in the workflow to close the loop.

  • Thanks for that info. It seems we do have a N:N relationship for contactleads_association. Do you know if thats safe to delete, or if that will even help? I appreciate your help and hope i'm not being too much of a pain :)

  • I think there is an out of the box relationship that is N:N, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.  Depending on your needs, it might make sense to make your own relationship between Contacts and Leads to populate. Also, any reason why you aren't just using the out-of-the-box Lead conversion process? That hooks everything up nicely.
