Website Passwords - adding and deleting

    Question

  • My hosted site is password protected, it works just fine.

I copied ALL my hosted sites onto my local IIS 10 (Windows 10 Pro)
all have unique local URLs (xxxxx.lcl with 127.0.x.x IPs assigned in local HOST file)
all work fine locally, EXCEPT the one that is password protected

When local site is opened using Visual Studio 2015 all pages can be opened
in both Code and Design viewing tabs displaying properly
    BUT
Every time I attempt to "Open with browser" (locally) I get Error 500
I assume the copied files are attempting to run the "Password" entry pop-up window from the "hosting server"
There are 4 .htxxxx files copied from the "hosting server"

How do I remove the password function from the local version of the site to allow browser viewing????

  • Hi jldragon,

    >>How do I remove the password function from the local version of the site to allow browser viewing????

Based on your description, this issue would be related to the specific web site app.

Since the ASP.NET has his own supported site, to help you resolve this issue as soon as possible, you could ask this question in the ASP.NET forum: http://forums.asp.net. If then, you could get an answer more quickly and professional. Thanks for your cooperation.
