  • invalid key? your computer may self destruct? have you fed the dog and made a will? I tried to retrieve pictures attatched to an e-mail and it asked me for a product key, much head scratching later I worked out that the underside of my lap top held the answers to another headache, the website is not much help to be honest and I am not that great with computers having avoided them for most of my life,what happens next and/or HOW DO I SORT OUT THIS PRODUCT KEY, I am using a fujitsu siemens laptop with vista pre-installed?

  • Just for the sake of argument, let's assume you recently purchased a new computer.

    Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office. 
    If you are getting a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft
    Office program, it is likely the trial period is over and you'll need to purchase a
    license (product key) for Microsoft Office.

    The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows Vista (the operating system)
    and not for Microsoft Office.

  • If your issue is, in fact, regarding the Windows Vista Product Key showing as invalid when entered into Vista, then please create a New Forum Thread (because this one has been marked as Answered) and post a Diagnostic Report and a detailed description of the issue.
