WHS PP3 Connector Software RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is the Connector Software supposed to update automatically? If it is, its not for me. Just installed PP3 and the Connector software has not prompted me at all to update it to the newer version. PP3 has definently been installed (had a look in Settings>Resources) yet I'm still stuck with the old Connector software. Is there a way to fix this, or is there a workaround to update without needing to use that prompt.

  • I just did this myself and WHS still "sees" my computer as the same computer--I still see all of my backups.  I am sure there is a system guid that is used and it is probably based on characteristics (e.g. BIOS serial number, MAC address, etc.) that don't change.  So at least by my experience, reinstalling the connector from the \\server\software\Home Server Connector folder worked just fine.

  • Hi Andrew,
if no upgrade is offered, you still should be able to uninstall the connector software manually and install it from http://yourservername:55000.

  • Ok thats all fine... but does that mean I lose all of my previous backups in the process?

  • Hi,
Did you try restarting the client. In my case this a restrat was needed to trigger the update.
If not, Olafs suggestion should solve the problem.

  • Cheers Dan, I did that too and it seems to have worked.

Theo, I did try restarting, I even tried rebooting, but the prompt still wouldn't come up.

    Thanks for your help guys.
