  • ZachB,

Here's the link to the alternate ordering process----try it to see if it will work for you   http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/GenerateHTA.aspx?displaylang=en&cCode=USA&Error=3&sGuid=046d0d88-92c5-4a90-8afc-68cb352a150c&Page=validate

Post back and let us know how you did!

  • Hi Zach,

You can download XP SP from this site:  http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx - You can also order an XP SP CD directly from this page as well.

Can you run our diagnostic tool and post the output here?  Maybe something there is something else going on.

    1)      Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with ADMIN rights.

    2)      Download the tool:   http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 click RUN.

    3)      When the tool loads, click CONTINUE.

    4)      Is the RESOLVE button available?  If so, please click RESOLVE to allow the diagnostic tool to repair the issue.

    5)      From the Windows tab, click the COPY button.

    6)      Reply back to this post and PASTE the results here.

Please let us know if the RESOLVE button was there and if it was able to fix any errors it may have detected.  I'd like to see us be able to get the web site working correctly on your PC, this is concerning.

Also, you can order via telephone if that works better for you.  #1-866-530-6599.

We look forward to your response.

    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • Nope, not working.  When I click on the link, it pops up a download box that asks me if I want to download a file called "legitcheck.hta".  Clicking Open makes a blank window appear on my desktop, titled

    "C:\Documents and Settings\ZachB\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\KRVBE0LL\legitcheck[1].hta"

Clicking save gives me a small file called "Legitcheck.hta" on my Desktop.  Running that pops up a small window that shows me the validation results failure page, along with the Buy button.  Clicking Buy opens a new browser with the link https://oms.one.microsoft.com/anonymous/wgana536/en-us/orderprocessing.asp that pauses for a few seconds, then goes to Page Not Found.

    Any suggestions?

Failing this, is there any way I can download security updates while I'm waiting to resolve this problem?  My main concern right now is installing SP2 - believe it or not, I still don't have this yet (been meaning to, but you know how it is).  Thank you.

    Zach

  • ZachB,

AFAIK, you can download and install SP2 without validating:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

I'm not sure why the order process is bogging down.

Can you surf to this page http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/orderhelp.aspx and call the order support number for your country/region?  I don't know for sure one way or the other, but they may be able to take your order over the phone.
