Disable Synctoy Password or get around it? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here is my problem. At work backing up your computer has been delegated to the end user (don't even get me started). Most use external USB hard disks. The big problem is as part of IT policy we are forced to change out passwords every 30 days.

This makes it impossible to actually schedule backups as whatever password you entered into "Scheduled Tasks" will be incorrect eventually. So it will work for a couple of weeks, and then it will stop working as the password in "Scheduled Tasks" will not match what was entered as your new password. If you can remember to update this, it would solve the problem, but that sort of defeats the purpose of automating/scheduling backups if you have to remember to do it each time (which will not happen).

So is there a way to schedule synctoy to run even though your password will be changing constantly? How might one get around that?

  • Have you tried running the task as SYSTEM?
