Beginner help - where to start with express editions? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a concept of a program I would like create that would be need to be compatible with all current versions of the MS Windows operating system.  I am not sure where to begin.  I am only assuming that there are many paths to get to my destination, VB, C#, C++, .NET...etc.

I have experience with web site design and programming using PHP, .NET, Perl, Jscipt, etc. so I think this can work to my benefit but may also mislead me.

In a nutshell, I want to create an executable program that will flow similar to an install wizard, where the first step is to import a .csv file, request form data and then export the merged data in .csv format.

Any help on where to begin would be highly appreciated.

  •  Take a look at this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/a72418yk(VS.80).aspx
There are also lots of books that can get you on the track with C#. This is one of them.

Also, for questions regardin Visual C# Express, there is this forum, but ask there only when you have specific questions (when you don't know how to do something, like reading from a file)
