2nd phase of Windows installer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Phase 2 of installing my Windows XP package will not start. I could only get as far as #8 on your Windows XP installation guide online ( http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/install.mspx ). I have no idea or clue on what to do next. I work mostly with Macintosh branded computers therefore am completly oblivious to any solutions to this problem. Please assist when available.

Do you have a genuine version of Windows? Please visit http://www.howtotell.com. This Microsoft Website will provide you with information for verifying if your copy of windows is genuine or non-genuine. The hardware configuration should allow you to install Windows XP but would perfom better if you had updated hardware. Please post your question to the other forum I posted previously. This forum is designed for working with Windows Genuine Advantage issues. Also Lori provided you with some links with information which may provide you with assistance for Windows installations.

Sorry that we could not provide you with any more information but please post the same question as you did here to the other forum.

  • Moogleez,

Hello :-).  Curious you indicate a problem happens with phase two. Can you please be more descript. Also please share with me what type of computer you are attempting to install Windows XP? Is this computer a commerical name brand or a system which either you or a someone else custom built? Next are you receiving any actual coded whatsoever during the installation process.

I do suggest posting your question to the Discussions in Windows XP General Forum newsgroups here:

  • I am currently running an Intel Celeron 566 Mhz with a 40 gig harddrive and 256 mg ram. It had Windows XP on it before i owned it and so I figured formatting and reinstalling Windows XP would erase any or all imformation they would have had on this pc.
