Hello cheryllee,
Did this computer come with Windows Vista Home Basic pre-instinstalled?
And did you recently (around 30 days ago) reinstall windows?
and if so, did you by chance borrow a friends Windows disk to do the reinstall with?
The reason I ask is because your computer is a Gateway and I assume it came with Vista pre-installed. The problem is that Windows that come pre-installed are called OEM versions and the disk you used to reinstall vista was a Retail version. An OEM version Product Key will not work in Retail software. So when you reinstalled Vista using the retail disk, it couldn't accept the OEM product key. So since no (acceptable) product key was entered, Vista used it's own 'Keyless Install key'. A Keyless Install Key is basically a Trial key that allows Windows to be used for 30 days.
The fix for this issue would be to reinstall using the Recovery Software that came with the computer.
(Now, before you say that "No Recovery Software came with the PC" please know a) Manufacturer are required to provide some way for customers to reinstall Windows and b) that now-days most computer manufacturers include the recovery software on the hard drive of the PC, instead of including a seperate disk.)
Please refer to the documentation that came with the computer (or contact the computer manufacturer) for assistance on how to find and use the Recovery Software for your computer. If you have overwritten or otherwise deleted the recovery software, please contact the Manufacturer for a replacment copy.
Thank you,

Thank you,
