Re-importing of Leads Issue (overriding of old leads with new leads)

Question
-
Hello Team,
I need your guidance for the following scenario. Is there any need to create workflow or not?
we have 20 leads with the basic info which is topic name, lead name and company name.
So we are exporting those leads to excel and we are gathering more information about that 20 leads.
We are going to enter more details for that leads in exported excel file itself.
again after completion entering details we have to update in CRM.
So here is the deal, when we are again importing leads those creating another 20 Leads. Here old Leads not overriding the with New leads (i.e, leads with more info) .Now i have total 40 leads here.(where 20 leads with basic info and 20 leads with more info).
But my requirement when we are importing leads with more info they should override old leads. After importing we should see only 20 leads with the more info.
Is it possible or any way is there to achieve my req?
Thanks in advance

When you export the data - use the static worksheet type and also check the option to make the data available to be re-imported (bottom of export window). This will include the unique identifiers for the existing records - so when the re-import happens the existing records will be updated instead of creating new ones.

The correct process is to make your changes in the XML file exported from and save it as Lead.xml (Word 2003 XML format). Do not save it as a CSV file and do not try and import opportunities using a list of leads. By reimporting an XML file, the CRM Import Wizard will recognize the entity and automatically map all the fields then update existing records.

thank you for your quick response...
I followed the same way which you have described in the reply. But still it is creating the new one not updating the old one.
When i am searching over the internet i got the following link (which is the same process suggested by you)
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/crm/archive/2011/06/01/leverage-microsoft-excel-to-edit-records.aspx
I followed it but i did not get the final result. It is creating the new one only.
Please help me out..

Exporting records for re-import is a solid feature and it works very well. If it is not working for you, then you might be missing one of the steps. Could you please describe the exact steps you are performing.
I'd also recommend EBAX for Dynamics CRM which allows you to edit records directly in Excel and push the changes back to CRM. (http://www.prosoft-sys.com/mscrmexcel.aspx).

Here i am taking Opportunity Entity.
First i am exporting Leads into Excel file from CRM. I am selecting Static Worksheet and also checking the option Make this sheet available for Re importing.
Then i am doing modifcations in the excel file itself.
After that i am converting excel file into CSV file.( When i am converting excel into CSV file it is genrating some checksum fileds)
While mapping i am ignoring those checksum fields(auto generated fields) you can find it in the following screenshot.
After mapping fields the import is successfull and it is creating another new opportunity instead of overriding old one.
Is this the correct process?
